David O’Shaughnessy is Professor of Eighteenth-Century Studies at the University of Galway. David has published widely on eighteenth-century theatre, especially on William Godwin, Oliver Goldsmith, and Charles Macklin, and his research has generated €2.3m in European funding. He is a general editor of the eight-volume Collected Works of Oliver Goldsmith for Cambridge University Press. For Theatronomics, David has responsibility for the overall direction of the project and is particularly interested in reconciling different accounting practices across the theatres, developing appropriate metrics for assessing theatrical careers, and in understanding the financial complexities of benefit nights.
